FAYE DUNAWAY

October 7, 2018

This brings us to the end of the incredible Faye Dunaway marathon. What a joy it has been. I must thank those of you who have been following along for the whole journey and thank you to my friend Chad Darnell for asking me to do a Faye Dunaway marathon and this blog page.

If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you'll see my spreadsheet with all of her film and TV credits listed. Here is that same spreadsheet now:

Everything in yellow I was able to find and watch. Those that are highlighted red, I wasn't able to find, except for a couple of DVDs I located that are just too expensive. If anyone reading this knows where I can find these, please let me know and I'll update this page:

1967 - The Happening - too expensive
1989 - Up to Date - couldn't find
1999 - Love Lies Bleeding - couldn't find
2000 - Stanley's Gig - couldn't find
2002 - Mid-Century - couldn't find
2007 - Cougar Club - too expensive
2007 - Say it in Russian - couldn't find
2009 - The Bait - couldn't find
2009 - 21 and a Wake-Up - couldn't find
2009 - The Magic Store - couldn't find
2010 - Earth Ring - couldn't find
2017 - The American Connection

Scroll down to September 9th when I posted my update on her television credits.

October 7, 2018

I saved Faye Dunaway's much deserved Best Actress Academy Award winning movie for last; the 1976 movie Network starring William Holden, Peter Finch, Robert Duvall, Ned Beatty and of course Faye Dunaway among others. A longtime news anchor learns he's losing his job, he goes crazy, the network exploits it, more crazy ensues... it's not a comedy, it's quite dark and depressing but so well done.

October 7, 2018

Watched the 1990 movie The Handmaid's Tale starring Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, Elizabeth McGovern, Victoria Tennant, Rober Duvall and Aidan Quinn. I had never seen this movie before nor have I watched the TV series of the same name. The subject matter hits a little too close to home with what's happening in the United States these days as we get closer and closer to a right wing fascist state; especially concerning people of color, LGBT people and women. It's hard enough just to get through the daily news let alone TV shows and movies of that topic. But I did watch this movie today and it is a good movie.

October 7, 2018

Watched the 1979 movie The Champ starring Jon Voight, Faye Dunaway and Ricky Schroder. It's been so many years since I'd seen it, I honestly couldn't remember what it was about until I watched it today. I mean, 39 years is a long time. Single dad trying to take care of his son after the mom abandoned them... then mom comes back and it ain't pretty. It's a wonderful movie. You will definitely understand why Ricky Schroder was the "it kid" for a long time after that.

October 6, 2018

Watched the 1974 movie The Four Musketeers: Milady's Revenge starring Faye Dunaway, Richard Chamberlain, Raquel Welch, Michael York, Oliver Reed, Christopher Lee, Frank Finlay and Geraldine Chaplain among many others. This is the sequel to The Three Musketeers in the post just before this one. Actually, if you've ever read the book, this is the second part of it. Not so much a sequel as a continuation of the story. I saw the first movie years ago but had never seen this one. I noticed the mood was very different. It wasn't as fun as The Three Musketeers. It's still good but you can tell the difference.

October 6, 2018

Watched the 1973 movie The Three Musketeers starring Faye Dunaway, Richard Chamberlain, Raquel Welch, Michael York, Oliver Reed, Charlton Heston, Christopher Lee, Spike Milligan and Geraldine Chaplain among many others. This classic story has been made into several movies over the years. This is one of the best ones. A lot of adventure and a lot of laughs. I love that the actors are known for their more dramatic roles but they're very funny in this. We all know the story so I'm not going to go into detail on that. If you don't, then just watch the movie. You'll really enjoy it.

October 5, 2018

Watched the 1994 movie Don Juan Demarco starring Johnny Depp, Marlon Brando and Faye Dunaway. A man attempts to commit suicide and ends up with a psychiatrist, who is days away from retirement, who must find out why the young man thinks he's the legendary lover Don Juan. Throughout the movie, all of the characters learn a lot about themselves from each other. I remember I tried to watch this many years ago but kept falling asleep so I gave up. I finally watched it all the way through and really enjoyed it.

October 5, 2018

Watched the 1976 movie Voyage of the Damned starring Faye Dunaway, Max Von Sydow, Malcolm McDowell, Orson Welles, James Mason, Katharine Ross, Ben Gazzara, Lee Grant and Jose Ferrer. This movie is based on the true story of the MS St. Louis in 1939 carrying Jewish refuges fleeing Nazi Germany. I'm not sure how much of the movie is fiction, but it's difficult to watch knowing thing like that were very real back then (and could be again). I'm not going to give away the end of the movie but you can probably guess and be right. It's on YouTube if you want to watch it.

October 3, 2018

Watched the 1988 movie Midnight Crossing starring Faye Dunaway, Daniel J. Travanti, Kim Cattrall, Ned Beatty and John Laughlin. This is a thriller about a group of people who go to a small island between Cuba and Florida to find a million dollars that was buried there. They end up having to fight pirates who are also looking for the money on top of the greed of each other.

October 3, 2018

Watched the 2002 independent film Changing Hearts starring Faye Dunaway, Lauren Holly, Tom Skerritt, Ian Somerhalder and Edie McClurg. The story is about two women with cancer, one young and one elderly facing their mortality and the men who love them. The movie plays with all of your emotions; some lighthearted moments but a lot of sadness and gloom so if you watch it, be sure to have a box of Kleenex nearby.

September 29, 2018

Watched the 1975 movie Three Days of the Condor starring Robert Redford, Faye Dunaway, Cliff Robertson and Max Von Sydow. A CIA researcher returns from lunch one day to find all of his coworkers dead and no longer knows who he can trust. It's a very good movie, but these types of movies bother me more than horror movies because situations like this can really happen and that's scarier than any boogeyman movie character.

September 29, 2018

Watched the 1999 movie The Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, Denis Leary, Ben Gazzara, Frankie Faison, my beloved Charles Keating (RIP) and Faye Dunway. The plot is very different from the original. In this one you have a wealthy art thief who falls in love with a detective. Faye Dunaway appears as Thomas Crown's therapist in this version. The leading couple were believable, but just didn't have that same spark as the 1968 film.

September 29, 2018

Watched the 1968 movie The Thomas Crown Affair starring Steve McQueen, Faye Dunaway and Jack Weston among others. A bank is robbed, an insurance investigator is brought in to figure out who did it, which leads her to Thomas Crown, whom she falls for. I won't give away any more. I just love Faye Dunaway and Steve McQueen onscreen. Definitely one of the greatest screen couples of all time.

September 25, 2018

Watched the 1984 movie Supergirl starring Helen Slater, Faye Dunaway, Peter O'Toole, Mia Farrow, Peter Cook, Hart Bochner, Maureen Teefy and Brenca Vaccaro. I saw this when it first opened in the theaters and really liked it then. It got pretty beat up by critics, but so what? It's one of those that gets better with time and is now a cult classic. Kara has to go to Earth to get the Omegahedron back from the evil witch Selena. She gains super powers on earth like her cousin Superman, falls in love, makes friends and defeats evil. Superhero movies are so popular right now, I'm sure many people have developed a new love for this one.

September 22, 2018

Watched the 1970 movie Little Big Man starring Dustin Hoffman and Faye Dunaway. The movie is about an elderly Jack Crabb telling the story to a historian about how he was captured and raised by Indians, his wife being killed by General Custer and working for him at Little Big Horn. It's a classic movie everyone should see at least once.

September 22, 2018

Watched the 2002 movie The Rules of Attraction starring James van der Beek, Faye Dunaway, Swoosie Kurtz, Jessica Biel, Kate Bosworth, Ron Jeremy, Eric Stoltz, Fred Savage and Kip Pardue among others. It's a black comedy about selfish entitled brats at college... drug dealers, womanizers, bisexuality and a lone virgin among sluts. A sign of the times. It was ok to see once. I likely won't watch it again.

September 20, 2018

Watched the 1990 sequel to Chinatown, The Two Jakes starring Jack Nicholson, Harvey Keitel and Meg Tilly. You don't see Faye Dunaway in this but you do hear her voice. Post WWII, Jake is hired by Jake to investigate his wife's infidelity and once again ends up having to solve a case of corruption and murder. It's a good movie and worth seeing, just not nearly as good as Chinatown.

September 20, 2018

Watched the 1974 movie Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston. It''s a classic 1930's era detective story about a private eye whose clients are mostly people who hire him to see if their spouses are having affairs or not. One such case turns out to be a lot more involving corruption, a proposed water dam, the chief engineer who opposes it and his murder. I saw this many years ago and it was good it see it again.

September 18, 2018

Watched the 2003 movie Blind Horizon starring Val Kilmer, Neve Campbell, Amy Smart, Sam Shepard and Faye Dunaway.  A man is shot and left to die in the desert. After being in a coma for a short time, he tries to find out who he is and what really happened to him. If I say anymore, it will give away the plot. There's really not any surprises in it, but it is a good movie.

September 18, 2018

I took a break for a bit to recover from a very bad reaction I had to spider bites that made me quite ill. Plus, I had seen 3 Sharknado movies and didn't know there were more until recently so I finished watching 4. 5 & 6. From what I understand, #6 is the last one and there won't be any more. I love movies so bad you can't stop watching. I'm all better now so it's time to resume the Faye Dunaway marathon.

I watched the 1981 movie Mommie Dearest starring Faye Dunway, Diana Scarwid and Rutanya Alda. I've seen interviews with Faye Dunaway where she talked about how disappointed she was in the movie, that the film maker didn't do Joan Crawford justice. I respect that. But I do love the movie. I loved it when I first saw it in 1981 and I still love it now. The movie has gained such a cult following. I know some of us have seen the movie so many times we can recite and even use the most famous quotes in our own lives:

"No wire hangers"
"I should have known you'd know where to find the boys and the booze"
"I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt"
My personal favorite: "Don't fuck with me fellas! This ain't my first time at the rodeo"

If you haven't seen it, you have to at least once.

September 12, 2018

Watched the 1988 Italian movie The Gamble starring Matthew Modine, Faye Dunaway and Jennifer Beals. A man returns home to learn his father lost everything. He agrees to gamble himself to win it all back but loses and becomes the Countess' slave. Most of the movie he's on the run from her. It's an ok movie. Worth seeing once but not one I'll likely watch repeatedly.

September 12, 2018

Watched the 2007 movie The Gene Generation starring Bai Ling and Faye Dunaway. It's a futuristic drama that's dark, and by dark I mean the story and visually. Lighting must not have been in the budget. Bai Ling fights DNA hackers and tries to save her brother. Beyond that, there's really no story. People who love the cyber-punk thing will probably enjoy it.

September 9, 2018

Watched the 2017 movie Inconceivable starring Gina Gershon, Nicky Whelan, Nicholas Cage and Faye Dunaway. It's along the lines of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. A crazy woman donated embryos but doesn't like how the recipients raise the kids so she kills. It's definitely worth watching. You can never go wrong with Gina Gershon.

September 9, 2018

Watched the 2017 horror movie The Bye Bye Man starring Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscount and Cressida Bonas, Doug Jones, Michael Trucco, Faye Dunaway and Carrie-Anne Moss. This was a pretty good - your typical college horror movie. The young people come across a name in a house they're living in, and anyone who says the name will do really bad things. Horror movie experts would pick it apart but the average person would probably enjoy it.

September 9, 2018

I was trying to continue my Faye Dunaway marathon with a 2007 movie called The Seduction of Dr. Fugazzi. I LOVE low budget independent films and prefer them over any blockbuster... but I have my limits and that movie crossed every one of them. That is the most narcissistic piece of shit I think I've ever seen. October Kingsley needs to learn a few things from women like Rena Riffle about how to write, produce, direct and star in her own projects the right way. Faye Dunaway has been in some other low budget independents as I've been finding out, and so far they were all really good. I'm stunned she'd agree to be in garbage like this.

UPDATE - September 9, 2018

This Faye Dunaway marathon has been going on just over a month now. I still have some of her movie credits to watch, but I have exhausted all of my resources as far as her television credits. I've seen most of them but there are a small number I just wasn't able to find at all. By all means, if you know where I can see these, please let me know.

1966 Television show The Trials of O'Brien
1971 Television show Great Performances: Hogan's Ghost
1974 After the Fall movie
1982 The Country Girl movie
1989 Cold Sassy Tree movie
2002 The Biographer movie

There were two where I was able to locate DVDs but they were too expensive.

1976 The Disappearance of Aimee $100
1998 A Will of Their Own - $34

September 8, 2018

Watched the 1987 British made for TV movie Casanova starring Richard Chamberain and Faye Dunaway. Of course it's an adaptation of a true story. Casanova seduced just about every woman he came across and it, along with his religious views, landed him in prison. You probably know the story of what comes next, but if you don't, you can either see the movie or read a history book about him.

September 8, 2018

Watched the 1986 British made for TV movie Raspberry Ripple starring John Gordon Sinclair, Barbara Barnes and Faye Dunaway. The story is about a man who is a paraplegic living in a group home with others with disabilities. He hates it there and wants to leave. He lives in his own little fantasy world that's like an old gangster movie where everyone he knows are characters in it. Faye Dunaway plays duel roles as the Madame of the group home and as "M" in his fantasies. It's really a neat movie that's on YouTube if you want to see it.

September 6, 2018

Watched the 1985 TV miniseries Christopher Columbus starring Gabriel Byrne, Oliver Reed, Max Von Sydow, Eli Wallach and Faye Dunaway. The movie follows Christopher Columbus from the time he was born, to stumbling across the New World to his death and everything in between. There's a lot of detail in this movie and if you studied history, it's very accurate too.

September 5, 2018

Watched the 1983 movie The Wicked Lady starring Faye Dunaway, Alan Bates and John Gielgud. Caroline is getting married to Sir Ralph and asks her sister Barbara to be her maid of honor. Barbara is the one who ends up marrying Ralph, but she's addicted to being a criminal. It's a good story, but the movie is way over-done. Way too much unnecessary gratuitous nudity. Seeing it once was enough.

September 5, 2018

Who knew that Faye Dunaway did a low budget British horror movie in 2008 called Flick also starring Hugh O'Connor and Liz Smith? I LOVE IT!! Campy campy campy and more campy! Kind of like a cross between any zombie movie and Peggy Sue Got Married with lots of Rockabilly music! It's on YouTube... enjoy!

September 3, 2018

Watched the 2002 movie The Calling, also under the title of Man of Faith starring Damian Chapa, Robert Wagner and Faye Dunaway. It's a biopic of a Leroy Jenkins, who was a televangelist in the 60s and 70s. Of course money and fame went to his head and he made a lot of enemies along the way. Gotta love Faye Dunaway as Mae West.

September 3, 2018

Watched the 1989 movie Wait Until Spring, Bandini starring Joe Mantegna, Ornella Muti and Faye Dunaway. The film is about a family in Colorado during the 1920s who were struggling to get by and survive the winter. The movie is dark and very slow but it's a great story.

September 3, 2018

Watched the 1996 movie The Chamber starring Chris O'Donnell, Gene Hackman and Faye Dunaway about a young attorney who is trying to stop the execution of his KKK grandfather who is on death row. It's not the most exciting movie, but the performances are outstanding. Definitely see this.

September 2, 2018

Watched the 1991 movie Scorchers starring Faye Dunaway, James Earl Jones, Jennifer Tilly, Luke Perry and Emily Lloyd. The movie is about some dysfunctional people in Louisiana. There's the unhappy husband seeing a prostitute and his wife who knows and finally comes to terms with it. You have a young couple on their wedding night where the bride is afraid of sex and has to be talked into by her father. A bartender and a drunk having deep meaningful conversations. It's not an exciting movie, but it is good.

September 2, 2018

Watched the 1996 movie Albino Alligator starring Matt Dillon, Gary Sinise, William Fichtner, Viggo Mortensen, Faye Dunaway, Skeet Ulrich and Joe Mantegna. After a holdup goes wrong, the group of criminals take hostages at a nearby bar. As the story progresses a decision needs to be made to either surrender peacefully or kill the hostages. Even though the movie is directed by Kevin Spacey, who has deservedly lost his career, it's still a really good movie.

September 2, 2018

Watched the 2009 Nora Roberts made for TV movie Midnight Bayou starring Jerry O'Connell and Faye Dunaway. A man buys a haunted plantation he's drawn to and then falls in love with a local girl who lives with her grandmother. Together they all figure out the secrets. Anyone who enjoys Nora Roberts will really enjoy this and if you're not familiar with her work, you'll want to be.

September 1, 2018

Watched the 1997 PBS TV miniseries Rebecca starring Charles Dance, Diana Rigg, Faye Dunaway, Geraldine James and John Horsley among others. A man marries a woman who is half his age and she's constantly competing with the ghost of his beloved deceased wife Rebecca. It's a timeless story that has been remade a few times but the outcome is still the same. It's a great lesson for young women on how to be strong. Everyone should watch it.

August 31, 2018

Watched the 1968 French Italian movie A Place for Lovers (original title Amanti) starring Faye Dunaway and Marcello Mastroianni. Faye plays a successful model who is dying from terminal cancer. She goes to Italy and has a wild affair with a man and becomes quite self destructive. I'm not going to give away what happens. I do recommend it!

August 30, 2018

Watched Faye Dunaway's 2009 guest appearance on the TV show Grey's Anatomy where she played a surgeon who should have long since retired and was no longer competent at the job. That's another TV show I've never seen except for an episode here and there for my actor marathons. This episode was really good though.

August 30, 2018

Watched the 2008 Italian movie La rabbia or The Rage as it's also known as. It's about a film director who wants to leave his mark in the world through film. Not the most exciting movie. I fell asleep during it twice but finally got through it.

August 30, 2018

Watched the 1993 movie The Temp starring Timothy Hutton, Faye Dunaway, Lara Flynn Boyle and Steven Weber. Timothy Hutton plays an emotionally frail manager of a cookie factory that was just bought by a major corporation, Faye Dunaway plays his boss and Lara Flynn Boyle plays the temp who was brought in when his usual assistant was on leave. Just when you think you know who the bad person is, you don't, then you do. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.

August 29, 2018

Watched Faye Dunaway's guest starring role on the TV show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in season 6 episode 13 "Kiss-Kiss Bye-Bye". Faye plays a former dancer who used to run with the Rat Pack in Las Vegas and the mafia. The team has to solve a murder that happened in her home. Again, I've never watched this whole series. So far I've only watched episodes that come up during my actor marathons. One of these days I'll have to start binge watching the whole thing.

August 29, 2018

Watched Faye Dunaway's guest starring role on the TV show Soul Food in season 3 episode 1 "Tonight at Noon". Faye plays a senior partner in a law firm who offers a job to one of the main characters where she would be in charge of the people who turned her down for a promotion a year earlier. I've never watched the show before so forgive me for not knowing all the character names. Faye was great in this role.

August 28, 2018

Watched the 1997 Spanish movie In Praise of Older Women or En brazos de la mujer madura in Spanish starring Faye Dunaway, Miguel Angel Garcia and Juan Diego Botto. The movie takes place during the Spanish Civil War where Andres' Catholic school shuts down and he has to join a brigade in order get to his mother. Throughout the movie over the course of about 5 years I believe, he encounters a number of women, most older who teach him a lot about sex and love. Your typical coming of age story.

August 28, 2018

Watched the 1973 dramedy Oklahoma Crude starring Faye Dunaway, George C. Scott and Jack Palance and it's directed by the great Stanley Kramer. Faye Dunaway plays a single woman who is fighting to keep her land when greedy business men try to take it for the oil. I love that it's a serious situation with a lot of slapstick. I really enjoyed it

August 27, 2018

Watched the 1988 movie Burning Secret starring Faye Dunaway and Klaus Maria Brandauer about a boy's journey to manhood. A boy being treated for asthma at a spa befriends a Baron and becomes jealous when the Baron takes an interest in his mother. This is one of those movies where you'll either really like it or really not like it... not really any in between. I liked it, though it's not one I'd watch again, but once was good.

August 27, 2018

Watched the 1969 movie The Arrangement starring Kirk Douglas, Faye Dunaway, Deborah Kerr and Hume Cronyn.  Kirk Douglas plays a suicidal man who's unhappy with his wife and job... basically crazy. The only thing that makes him happy is his relationship with his girlfriend. It's interesting how it all comes together at the end. I recommend it if you're looking for something to watch.

August 27, 2018

Watched the 1996 movie Dunston Checks In starring Jason Alexander, Faye Dunaway, Rupert Everett and Paul Reubens. It's about a criminal who has trained an orangutan named Dunston to steal for him. He goes to a hotel owned by Faye Dunaway's character and managed by Jason Alexander's character. The hotel manager's son is out to save Dunston It was ok... not great, but ok... more of a family movie.

August 26, 2018

Watched the 2004 movie El padrino written by, directed by and starring Damian Chapa. Also starring Faye Dunaway, Jennifer Tilly, Robert Wagner, Stacy Keach and Gary Busey. It's compared to The Godfather and Scarface, but no. It's about the start of a drug dealer who becomes one of the biggest drug lord gangsters in Los Angeles. If you like these gangster type movies, I'm sure you'll like it.

August 26, 2018

Watched the very good 1993 independent dramedy Arizona Dream starring Johnny Depp, Faye Dunaway, Jerry Lewis, Lili Taylor and Vincent Gallo. So much was going on in this movie it's difficult to sum it up without giving something away. When you have that many great actors all playing crazy characters, you're going to get some really funny moments and some not so funny moments. It's on YouTube and I highly recommend it.

August 26, 2018

Watched the 2000 made for TV movie Running Mates starring Tom Selleck, Faye Dunaway, Teri Hatcher, Laura Linney, Robert Culp and Nancy Travis. Tom Selleck is the Democratic nominee for President and it's basically it's a light-hearted film about an honest politician facing the sleaze involved with choosing a running mate. It's worth seeing.

August 25, 2018

I attempted to watch the 1993 TV series sitcom It Had to Be You starring Faye Dunaway and Robert Urich but all I could find were two very poor quality episodes on YouTube so I watched those. Reading about the show, it really didn't stand a chance. Only four episodes aired before Faye Dunaway was dropped and the focus would be on Urich's character... and from what I understand, none of the rest of the series aired.

August 25, 2018

I'm not an Angelina Jolie fan, never have been. There's something about her that just digs into my last nerve but I watched the 1998 movie Gia for this marathon. The movie also stars Faye Dunaway and Mercedes Ruehl. It's about a young girl who leaves home to be a model, gets an agent played by Faye Dunaway, things happen, she ends up on drugs, has a lesbian affair that ends because of the drug use, she kicks the drugs and fins out she has AIDS. If you like dark dramas, you'll like this one.

August 25, 2018

Watched the 1999 movie The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc starring Milla JoJovich, John Malkovich, Faye Dunaway and Dustin Hoffman. The classic story of the French heroine and religious martyr St. Joan of Arc. Faye plays Yolande of Aragon. It follows the story of Joan from childhood seeing her family destroyed to her visions that led her to lead the French into battle against the English. If you're familiar with the story, you'l really appreciate this.

August 24, 2018

Watched the 1984 movie Ordeal by Innocence starring Donald Sutherland, Christopher Plummer, Sarah Miles and Faye Dunaway. Classic Agatha Christie. Donald Sutherland plays a paleontologist who visits the Argyle home to return an address book belonging to Jack. He's told Jack was hung for the murder of his stepmother. He sets out to find the real killer.

August 23, 2018

Watched the 1992 movie Double Edge where Faye Dunaway plays a photojournalist on assignment in Israel and while she's there, she learns that everything she thought about the tensions there is wrong and gets quite an eye opening. It's not a movie you'll want to watch over and over, but seeing it once is really good.

August 23, 2018

Watched the 1987 movie Barfly starring Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway. I saw this back when it first came out but had forgotten what it was about... until now. Mickey Rourke is an alcoholic writer, Faye Dunaway is an alcoholic kept woman with a sugar daddy and they become drinking buddies. I'm not going to give away what happens. The movie is definitely worth watching and since I'm really not a fan of Mickey Rourke's and can say that, then it must be good.

August 22, 2018

Last one for this evening is the 2004 movie The Last Goodbye starring Clementine Ford, Maggie Blye, Faye Dunaway and David Carradine. This is one of those ensemble movies where there's different stories going on but they all connect. I'm not completely fond of the casting for this movie as a few of the male actors look too much alike and it was confusing at times. You really have to pay attention to every moment of this movie or you'll get lost. The saving grace was Faye Dunaway and David Carradine who were excellent as always!

August 22, 2018

I refuse to support anything Andy Dick is involved with so I won't be watching the 2006 movie Love Hollywood Style. If you like him, knock yourself out and watch it. You'll probably enjoy it.

August 22, 2018

Watched the 2006 movie Cut Off. I try to stay positive when I do these things, but sometimes I'll watch a movie I just don't like and this is one of them.  I mean, this movie not only has Faye Dunaway in it, but it's also got Malcolm McDowell and Anne Archer so you would think it would be better than it is. My guess is that it was meant to be a black comedy but the film makers just couldn't pull it off. Judge for yourself, it just wasn't for me.

August 21, 2018

Watched Faye Dunaway's 1995 guest role on the TV show Road to Avonlea in the episode "What a Tangled Web We Weave" where she played penniless Countess Polenska. I've never seen that show before. I'll have to mark that as one to binge watch in the future. Good family entertainment.

August 21, 2018

This movie has a big name cast so I don't know why I'd never heard of the 2000 movie The Yards before today. Along with Faye Dunaway, it stars Ellen Burstyn, Mark Wahlberg, Joaquin Phoenix, James Caan and Charlize Theron. It's about a crime family, corruption and doing what you have to do to get ahead. I've seen people online compare it to The Godfather, but it's not. It's a strong story all its own.

August 20, 2018

Watched the 2004 Hallmark original made for TV movie Back When We Were Grownups starring Blythe Danner, Peter Fonda, Faye Dunaway and Jack Palance in his last film before passing away. A widowed woman is stuck taking care of his daughters from another marriage, his elderly uncle and his business. She's confused about whether she's made the right choices in life and calls up a boyfriend from her youth. I'm not going to give it away but you'll love it!

August 19, 2018

Watched the 1990 made for TV movie Silhouette starring Faye Dunaway, David Rasche and John Terry. A woman has a highway accident and has to stay in a small Texas town while her windshield gets replaced. She witnesses the killing of a woman, which puts her in danger. I figured out who the killer was early on in the movie, I'm pretty good at that. It was a little bittersweet to see a young Glenn Quinn as the Sheriff's son. He was so talented and gone way too soon. The movie is well worth watching and it's on YouTube.

August 19, 2018

Just finished watching the 1986 made for TV movie Beverly Hills Madam starring Faye Dunaway as the madam and Robin Givens, Donna Dixon, Melody Anderson and Terry Farrell as her very high priced call girls. Each one has their own dramas playing out. I was a teenager in the early to mid 80s and I miss the big hair and fun fashion so that was pleasant to watch. I found it in four parts on YouTube.

August 19, 2018

Watched the 2017 biopic The Case for Christ starring Mike Vogel and Erika Christensen about writer Lee Strobel's life as an Atheist morphing into a Christian and becoming one of the top selling Christian authors. Faye Dunaway has a cameo role in this as one of the specialists he interviews trying to prove the existence of God. It's a good movie... not one I'll watch repeatedly, but it was good once.

August 19, 2018

Watched the 1995 all-star ensemble movie called Drunks. The main star is Richard Lewis with Faye Dunaway, Calista Flockhart, Sam Rockwell, Dianne Wiest, Parker Posey, George Martin, Amanda Plummer, Kevin Corrigan, Howard Rollins and Spalding Gray among others. It's about alcoholics and addicts at an AA meeting telling their stories. I thought it was very well done.

August 18, 2018

Watched the 1969 movie The Extraordinary Seaman starring David Niven, Alan Alda, Mickey Rooney, Jack Carter, Juano Hernandez and Faye Dunaway. I really don't want to say anything about the plot because just about anything I say will give it away. I read that it was a critical flop and didn't screen in very many theaters... even the director hated it. All I know is, I had to pause it more than a few times because I laughed to tears and I couldn't see. It's on YouTube in 6 parts if you want to see it.

August 18, 2018

Watched the 1971 English speaking French independent film The Deadly Trap which is also has the alternate title Death Scream. The film co-stars Faye Dunaway and Frank Langella. There's a whole lot going on in this little film: Dad is an industrial spy who quit the business and the organization wants him back, mom & Dad's marriage has issues, mom is on medication for her emotional issues and is on the verge of a breakdown, no one knows who to trust and the kids go missing. It's on YouTube if you want to see it.

August 18, 2018

Since I started the Faye Dunaway marathon, several people have asked me if I was going to watch the 1978 movie The Eyes of Laura Mars. Of course my answer has been "yes" since the goal is to watch all of her work I can find. Well, today was the day. I just finished watching The Eyes of Laura Mars. I'd actually seen this movie 40 years ago when I was a kid (August 4, 1978 was when it was first released) and it was just as good to revisit it today. Faye plays a photographer with a psychic connection to a serial killer and she can see his crimes as they're happening through his eyes. Who doesn't love the song "Prisoner" by Barbra Streisand? If you've never seen it before, it's a must see!

August 18, 2018

Watched the 2005 Independent movie Ghosts Never Sleep starring Tony Goldwyn, Sean Young and Faye Dunaway. A man is haunted by something he accidentally did as a child, his wife doesn't know about it and his mother can't forgive him. The movie doesn't make sense at times - the story is pretty jumbled. It's only in about the last 20 minutes where I finally started to understand what was happening.

August 18, 2018

Just finished watching the 2010 Hallmark Channel original movie A Family Thanksgiving starring Daphne Zuniga and Faye Dunaway. It's sort of in the spirit of It's A Wonderful Life where a mystery character appears and the lead character has to go through an eye opening journey of "what could have been...". Many of the Faye Dunaway movies are heavy dramas so it's nice to see her in something more light-hearted. I found it on YouTube.

August 18, 2018

Watched the 2004 made for TV move Anonymous Rex starring Sam Trammell, Daniel Baldwin, Isaac Hayes and Faye Dunaway among others. From what I read about it, it was meant as a backdoor pilot for a planned TV series but that didn't happen. The story takes place in a time where dinosaurs exist disguised as humans. I'm not going to give away the plot. It wasn't bad... it wasn't great... but it wasn't bad. Younger people would probably love it. I found it on YouTube if you want to see it.

August 17, 2018

Watched the all-star 1984 TV mini series Ellis Island. I vaguely remember seeing a little of it when I was a teenager but I'm pretty sure I didn't see the whole thing. It was shown over three nights and I'm sure I had a concert or music rehearsals that kept me from seeing the entire series. Along with Faye Dunaway, it stars Peter Riegert, Gregory Paul Martin, Ann Jillian, Melba Moore, Liam Neeson, Ben Vereen just off the top of my head - there are many others. Plus it was Richard Burton's last film. The movie is about several immigrants in the late 19th century / early 20th century who made their way to Ellis Island in search of the American dream.  I found it in two parts on YouTube if you want to see it. I highly recommend it.

August 16, 2018

Just completed the 1972 made for TV movie Portrait: The Woman I Love starring Faye Dunaway, Richard Chamberlain and Patrick Macnee about King Edward VIII abdicating the throne for the woman he loved, Wallis Warfield Simpson. I found it on YouTube in 6 parts. The quality of the video isn't very good but it's still a very good movie.

August 16, 2018

Watched the 1996 made for TV movie The People Next Door starring Faye Dunaway, Nicollette Sheridan, Michael O'Keefe and Tracey Ellis. Your Standard Lifetime movie where bad neighbors kidnap the down & out single mother's children. Faye Dunaway played the overbearingly critical grandmother. I've always liked these kinds of movies. I found it on YouTube.

August 16, 2018

Just enjoyed the 2001 short film The Yellow Bird co-written by Faye Dunaway and Tennessee Williams and directed by Faye. Tennessee Williams is the narrator of the film which stars James Coburn, Brenda Blethyn and Cynthia Watros. Faye also has a supporting role as a family friend. A young girl stands up to her preacher father and goes wild, shocking everyone. I found it on YouTube in two parts. Enjoy!

August 15, 2018

Tonight's addition to the Faye Dunaway marathon was the 1981 made for TV movie Evita Peron, a docudrama about Argentina First Lady Eva Peron. From everything I've read about her over the years, this movie was pretty accurate capturing how Eva could be the champion of the people one minute and be extremely ruthless the next. It's on YouTube if anyone wants to see it.

August 14, 2018

Continued the Faye Dunaway marathon with the 1995 made for TV move A Family Divided; also starring Cameron Bancroft and Stephen Collins. The son participates in a fraternity party gang rape of a 17 year old girl, the fraternity hires the dad as their lawyer, the daughter has no idea what's going on and the mom is falling apart... your standard Lifetime Movie.

August 13, 2018

Since today is the 51st anniversary of the 1967 movie Bonnie and Clyde and I'm in the middle of this Faye Dunaway marathon, then this is the perfect day to watch it. It's been many years since I last saw this and it's still as great as always. I still love Gene Wilder in this. His character was the comic relief to the heavy drama. This is one of those movies that you have to see, just because.

August 12, 2018

I managed to find Faye Dunaway's first feature film; the 1967 movie Hurry Sundown. The movie stars Michael Caine, Jane Fonda, Diahann Carroll, Robert Hooks, John Phillip Law, Burgess Meredith, George Kennedy, Robert Reed and Jim Backus. That movie is packed with racism and takes place towards the end of WWII. A white farmer and a black farmer partner up to keep rich white people from basically stealing their land... which makes most of the town's white people angry and vengeful. George Kennedy is the dimwitted comic relief sheriff in a movie that gets a bit dark. Parts of it made me very uncomfortable. If I had a dollar for every time the "N" word was blurted out, I'd be a mighty rich woman. It may be a sad reminder to me of just how much we've stepped back in time with all the racial tension the last few years. It is a good movie so I do recommend it.

August 12, 2018

Watched a 2004 movie called Chronicle of the Raven, which also has the title Jennifer's Shadow. I found it on YouTube. It's about a woman named Jennifer, who hasn't been to her family home in years, goes home for her sister's funeral. Faye Dunaway plays her grandmother and there's no love lost between the two. There's a whole lot of evil in that house. The movie itself is tense at times but isn't really that scary, however; every time the Jennifer character screamed, it was so damn loud I nearly wet myself. The story is good though so you won't be wasting your time to see it.

August 12, 2018

Watched the 1996 movie The Twilight of the Golds starring Jennifer Beals, Brendan Fraser, Garry Marshall, Jon Tenney, Rosie O'Donnell and Faye Dunaway. It's about a time when genetic testing can be done on unborn fetus' and it was determined the woman's baby would likely be gay just like her brother... which has always been a bad thing in their conservative family. I don't want to give too much away for those who haven't seen it, but it's a very good movie and well worth the time to see.

August 11, 2018

Watched the 1970 movie Puzzle of a Downfall Child. Faye Dunaway plays Lou Andeas Sand; a woman who is recalling her life to a former fashion photographer turned film maker as a former famous fashion model, her loves and friends while spiraling into insanity. Definitely worth watching.

August 11, 2018

Watched the 1971 Western movie "Doc" starring Stacy Keach as Doc Holiday, Harris Yulin as Wyatt Earp and Faye Dunaway as Katie Elder. Doc, who has tuberculosis, was on his way West to Tombstone to see his friend Wyatt Earp when he stops along the way and wins prostitute Katie Elder in a card game where she insists on going with him. It's a bit cheesy at times but a really good movie.

August 10, 2018

Continued the Faye Dunaway marathon with the 2007 made for TV movie Pandemic. The movie is similar to many other movies like Outbreak where a disease spreads like wildfire, people get scared, people are jerks, people panic, people rebel, people die and one or two people have to save the world. Faye Dunaway stars along side Tiffani Thiessen,Eric Roberts, French Stewart, Vincent Spano and many more.

August 10, 2018

Watched the 1993 Columbo made for TV movie It's All in the Game. I loved the Columbo TV series in the 70s and was thrilled it continued for years with these movies. Faye Dunaway plays a woman, who along with another woman, kills a horrible man. I won't give away the reason why. We got the usual campiness of Columbo with his old dog, old car and his famous catch phrase "just one more thing". I did catch that quick Dawn Wells cameo in the party scene.

August 9, 2018

Usually with my actor marathons, finding their earliest work can be difficult. I was surprised to find Faye Dunaway's first listed IMDb credit on YouTube. It's a 1965 television show called Seaway that starred Stephen Young. Faye plays a doctor who is brought in to stop a plague on a quarantined ship before it spreads. That was an interesting show. I'll have to save that and go back to watch more episodes later on.

August 8, 2018

Watched the wonderful 2006 movie tonight called Rain. Wow! Brooklyn Sudano plays a young black musician named Rain. She learns that she's adopted and her real mother is a rich white woman who gave her adoptive parents money to take her. Rain witnesses the murder of her sister and has to go into hiding at her natural grandmother's home... played by Faye Dunaway. Robert Loggia plays Jake, the retired NYPD detective and the grandmother's close friend and chauffeur. I'm not going to give away the story, but it's emotional. I cried a lot of sad and happy tears throughout the whole thing so when you watch it, have plenty of Kleenex on hand.

August 5, 2018

Just finished watching the 1980 film The First Deadly Sin starring Frank Sinatra and Faye Dunaway. Frank Sinatra plays a detective nearing retirement who is determined to solve a serial killer case while his wife is very ill in the hospital with kidney issues. Bruce Willis has his first film role in this, though he's in it for just a second and if you blink you'll miss it. It's a heavy drama and a bit of a depressing movie. I did tear up a bit.

Bruce Willis' brief role

August 5, 2018

You can find the 1991 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers video Into the Great Wide Open on YouTube where Faye Dunaway stars along with Johnny Depp and several other musicians with cameo appearances where the music video acts out the lyrics of the song.

August 5, 2018

All of the best actor marathons include at least one Agatha Christie film - especially those where Peter Ustinov portrays Inspector Hercule Poirot. Faye Dunaway's is the 1985 made for TV movie Thirteen at Dinner, where she plays the dual roles of Jane Wilkinson and Carlotta Adams. The film is a little different than other Agatha Christie movies in that this was written back in the 30s but adapted to take place in the 80s. They usually take place in the time they were written. Poirot gathers the facts and in pure dramatic fashion, gathers all the suspects to out the killer. What's not to love?

August 5, 2018

I love watching those all-star ensemble disaster movies that were all the rage in the 70s. Among my favorite movies is the 1974 movie The Towering Inferno. The movie was adapted from a pair of books called The Tower and The Glass Inferno. Faye starred along with Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Richard Chamberlain, Fred Astaire, Jennifer Jones, William Holden, Robert Vaughn, Robert Wagner, Susan Blakely and O.J. Simpson before he was a criminal. I always have fun memories of seeing movies like this at the theater when I was a kid because my mother would always read the books first before seeing the movies and then she'd get really upset and yell when the movie did something that was different from the book. She yelled a lot during this movie about the outcome of the Jennifer Jones character. I like to re-visit this one often.

August 4, 2018

I'm going to start this marathon with Faye's guest appearance in season 2 of the TV show Alias. I just recently watched this whole series when I did my Victor Garber marathon. She appeared in 3 episodes; The Abduction, A Higher Echelon and The Getaway as Ariana Kane - the Alliance's Head of Intelligence. Her objective was to investigate the murder of Emily Sloane, targeting Jack Bristow. Of course as with everything on that show, nothing and no one is as it seems, which was the case with Ariana Kane. It really was a great series and if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.

August 4, 2018

The first thing I always do before I begin an actor marathon is set up an Excel spreadsheet listing all of their credits listed on IMDb and divide it into Film and Television. This makes it easier for me to know where online to look for them. As I watch the movies and TV shows I'll highlight the lines yellow. The goal is to have all of the lines yellow. If after exhausting every resource I know of and I'm unable to find something, I'll highlight it red. I now have my Faye Dunaway page all set up and I'm ready to begin the marathon.
